We will begin collecting at the Memorial Park Prairie and then have a collecting tour of the new Eastern Glades with Jake Smith, MPC's Grassland Supervisor. The Eastern Glades is a wonderful picnic spot, so bring a lunch if you are interested in eating together after the collecting tour!
Time: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Meet in the parking lot of Memorial Park Running Trails Center. (Map)
We will be collecting only for Memorial Park Conservancy and CPC at this location.
If you wish, bring a lunch to picnic together at the Eastern Glades after collecting.
General Instructions
Everyone is welcome!
Except for UH Coastal Center, you may collect for Coastal Prairie Conservancy, for any other non-profit organization, or for your own personal use.
Please bring water in a reusable bottle, pruners or scissors, a pen, and a bucket or a reusable grocery bag. Some supplies are available if needed.
Please wear closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long-sleeved shirt. We recommend you bring a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a snack for yourself, a camera, and binoculars, if you are a birder.
Paper bags for the seeds to be collected and water refills will be available.
Seed collecting opportunities are combined with other Coastal Prairie Conservancy volunteer opportunities in one volunteer email. Please join our volunteer opportunities email list at this link; be sure to check the volunteer box. After joining that list, if you would like to be placed on the seed collecting email list to be notified of impromptu trips like this, please send your email address to Lshen@coastalprairieconservancy.org.
As seed collecting trips are scheduled, they are added to the RSVP form. Check this link for upcoming seed collecting trips and updates to scheduled trips.
