Advocacy & Research
Protecting the conservation values of our lands.
Research
Sound research and science is the backbone to good prairie conservation and restoration work.
At the Coastal Prairie Conservancy, we support and engage in science-based research programs that identify the ways grasslands and wetlands provide important benefits to our growing regional area. We work with scientists, ecologists, biologists, and area universities by providing access to our preserves to accommodate faculty and student research.
We have supported research for the reintroduction of endemic species onto the prairie and programs that explore the effects of prairie restoration on wildlife populations. We also participate in economic impact and benefit studies to aid in planning and provide policy guidance for our area. You’ll also find the Coastal Prairie Conservancy involved in long-term projects such as the Cypress Creek Overflow project which is working to explore ways to reduce flood risk in our region.
Advocacy
The Coastal Prairie Conservancy is active in public policy with issues related to public infrastructure and conservation lands. We work closely with local, state, and federal officials and stakeholders, as well as the communities we serve.
Our leadership team is committed to staying at the forefront of issues impacting local land conservation. Our goal is to take an inclusive approach to advocacy efforts that encourage the conservation of the coastal prairie. We want to make sure that protected lands are safeguarded for people and wildlife, now and in the future.
