Lunch and Learn: Battling Invasive Species on the Texas Gulf Coast

Invasive species are devastating to our economy, natural areas and agricultural needs. With Texas being the largest state in the contiguous U.S., it is constantly under attack by invasive species, and we need the help of the public to report, prevent and manage these species. This Lunch and Learn presentation will cover invasive species present in our suburban and rural Prairies & Grasslands ecosystem, how to report species of concern, prevent their spread, and most importantly, how to manage them on your property. We believe by providing public education on invasive species it empowers citizens to report sightings and motivates them into actively removing invasive plants and pests.

This session is presented by Ashley Morgan-Olvera, M.S., the Director of Research and Education for the Texas Invasive Species Institute at Sam Houston State University.
