Unplugged Adventure: Ranger Treks on the Prairie

  • Coastal Prairie Conservancy - Indiangrass Preserve 31975 Hebert Road Waller, TX, 77484 United States (map)

Join us for our monthly nature hike on the Katy Prairie Preserve! This month’s theme is “Prairie Weather.” Prairie plants and wildlife depend on the sun, clouds, wind, and rain on the Katy Prairie Preserve! During our weather-themed Ranger Trek, we will make our own weather observations, learn basic cloud types, and try out a homemade anemometer.

  • Enjoy a guided hike through the prairie, exploring different areas each month

  • Observe and learn about wildflowers, insects, and birds

  • Finish with pond dip-netting at the prairie potholes

All ages are welcome. We'll start with a brief overview and safety talk. Please wear outdoor clothing including sun/insect protection and close-toed shoes (high socks/boots preferred). Please also bring a water bottle. Binoculars and cameras are welcome. Rain or shine!

No registration needed.
